FAQs

Do I need a permit to add a deck or porch to my house?

Any new construction or remodeling that changes the footprint of the existing building requires a zoning permit. That also includes the addition of sheds or decks, fences, and signage.

Do I need a business license in the City of Dillon?

The city does not require a general business license. However, transient vendors (such as food trucks and fireworks stands) do need to apply for a transient vendor license annually to operate within city limits. Also be aware of local ordinances regarding home-based businesses within residential areas of the city.

How do I report a complaint?

Whether you want to report a tree down, a stray cat, overgrown lawns or whatever else you feel needs our direct attention, you can call the City Hall at (406) 683-4245 or fill out a Citizen’s Complaint form. These will then be forwarded to the appropriate department for further action.
